Ball Joint Replacement Cost
What owners actually paid
The shaded middle is where half of all these repairs landed: $299 – $736. The price on any one car depends on the vehicle — the table below shows the range for each.
What this repair is
Ball joints are the pivots that let your front wheels steer while carrying the vehicle's weight. Worn ones clunk over bumps and scallop tires; a separated ball joint drops the wheel — which is why shops treat play in one as a now-repair. The job ends with an alignment.

What moves the price
- Serviceable or not — on many vehicles the joint comes only with the whole control arm.
- One side or both — worn joints tend to fail in pairs; shops often recommend both sides.
- Alignment — ball joints set the geometry — an alignment belongs on the same invoice.
Quotes near the low end usually mean one serviceable lower joint on a truck, alignment skipped. Quotes near the high end usually mean both sides upper and lower, joints integral to the control arm, alignment included.
