Privacy Policy

Who we are

FixDozer ("we", "us") provides information about car repair costs and likely fixes. You can reach us at support@fixdozer.com or through our Contact page.

What we collect

• Site analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_…) to tell visits apart and records the pages you view, how you reached the site (for example, a Google search), your device and browser type, your approximate location (country, region, city), and a few on-site actions: downloading a report, steps in the "narrow it down" tool, choosing a vehicle (make and model), switching between US and Canadian units, clicking an email link on our Contact or Partners page (we record only the topic, such as "price" or "privacy", never your message or address), and signing in, changing your account or deactivating it (the action only, never what you saved). Google Analytics does not store IP addresses. We do not send your name or email address to Google Analytics, and we do not use analytics data for advertising. Analytics data is kept for 2 months.
• Your car, if you save it. The "My car" feature keeps your vehicle, model year and mileage in your own browser (local storage). Unless you save a car to your account (below), model year and mileage never leave your browser. When you view a symptom page with a vehicle chosen, its make and model are sent to our server to look up that vehicle's odds; we do not store that request or link it to you. "Forget my car" deletes everything saved.
• Prices in Canadian dollars. To show visitors in Canada prices in Canadian dollars and distances in kilometres, each page asks Cloudflare, once per browser session, which country your connection comes from. The answer stays in your browser for that session; we do not store it or link it to you. If you are in Canada (or pick "C$ · km" at the bottom of any page), your browser fetches the Bank of Canada's daily exchange rate from our server and keeps it, with your choice of units, in local storage.
• Your account, if you sign in. You can sign in with your Google account. Google tells us your Google account ID and your email address; we store them with what you save to your account: one ZIP code and up to two cars (make, model, model year, mileage), and the dates you last changed them. We use your ZIP code only to show what repairs cost at shops within about 100 miles of you. We never receive your Google password, we do not store your name or photo, and we never send you marketing email. Google's sign-in script loads only when you open the sign-in panel; Google handles the sign-in under its own privacy policy.
• Waitlist and contact emails. If you email us to join the waitlist or ask a question, we receive your email address, your vehicle description, and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to respond to you and to notify you when the product launches.
• Hosting and security logs. Our hosting provider (Microsoft Azure) and our security and delivery provider (Cloudflare) process standard request data — IP address, browser type, pages requested — to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie to tell people from automated traffic. We do not use these logs to identify or profile visitors. Cloudflare also measures page loads and visits without cookies (Cloudflare Web Analytics).

Cookies and your choices

The cookies on this site are the Google Analytics cookies above, at times Cloudflare's security cookie, and, only if you sign in, our fd_session cookie: it keeps you signed in for 30 days, holds only an identifier for your account, and is needed for the account to work (Google may set its own cookies while you sign in). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on; the site works the same without them, except that signing in needs the session cookie.

What we don't do

• We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
• We do not run advertising on this site, and we do not use advertising or remarketing trackers.

About our repair data

The statistics FixDozer publishes are computed from aggregated, de-identified vehicle repair records. They describe vehicles and repairs — makes, models, parts, labor, and costs — and contain no personal information about vehicle owners.

Where your data is stored

FixDozer runs in the United States. Account data is stored with Microsoft Azure in the United States, and the services named above (Microsoft Azure, Cloudflare, Google) process site data in the United States and other countries. If you use the site from outside the United States, including from Canada, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States. We protect it as described in this policy wherever it is processed; while it is there, it may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under the laws of that country.

Data retention and your rights

Waitlist emails are kept until launch or until you ask us to delete them. Analytics data is kept for the period stated above. Account data is kept while your account exists. "Deactivate account" switches your account off but keeps your ZIP code and cars, so signing in again with the same Google account restores them; your ZIP code and cars can each be changed once every 7 days, and deactivating does not reset that. Email privacy@fixdozer.com to have your account data or any other information erased permanently at any time.
