Throttle Body Replacement Cost
What owners actually paid
The shaded middle is where half of all these repairs landed: $216 – $608. The price on any one car depends on the vehicle — the table below shows the range for each.
What this repair is
The throttle body is the valve that meters air into the engine, electronically controlled on anything recent. Carbon buildup or a failing motor causes stalling at stops, surging idle, limp mode, or a check-engine light. Sometimes a cleaning saves it; when the unit is replaced, many vehicles need an idle relearn or programming step to finish the job.

What moves the price
- Clean or replace — carbon buildup sometimes cleans up; a failed motor or sensor means replacement.
- Relearn — many vehicles need an idle relearn or scan-tool procedure after replacement.
Quotes near the low end usually mean a cleaning that solved it, or an aftermarket unit. Quotes near the high end usually mean OEM electronic throttle body with programming, intake components disturbed.
