What this repair is
The PCV valve vents crankcase pressure back into the intake. Stuck valves cause rough idle, oil consumption, and leaks pushed out of gaskets that were otherwise fine. On most engines it is one of the cheapest fixes on this site; a few designs bury it under the intake manifold, and those quotes look nothing like the easy ones.
